Hank Kimmel

Hank Kimmel serves as President of Working Title Playwrights. He is also the author of 62 plays, most of which take a darkly comedic view of suburban living and aspiration. His goal is to have his work showcased in all 50 states, and recently he has had his plays featured at the Illusion Theatre (MN), Southwest Theatre (TX), Boca Raton Theatre Guild (FL), Heartland Theatre (IL), Heartlande Theatre Company (MI) and the Last Frontier Theatre Conference (AK).

One of his short radio dramas Early Morning Appointment was recently produced as part of the Big Apple Short Radio Drama Festival, and his monologue "King Sized Bed" was recently published by Smith & Kraus. His collection "Life in The Suburbs" will soon be featured and available for sale on the Drama Source web site – www.dramasource.com

Raised in New York/New England, he now resides happily in Atlanta, and is proud to have his work featured locally by Push Push Theater, Atlanta Classical Theatre and the Process Theatre. He is the winner of the 2001 Georgia Theatre Conference One-Act Play Competition and the 2001 Georgia Bar Journal Fiction Writing Contest. He is also a three-time winner of the Village Writers Group annual 10-Minute Play Competition. He is a regular theater columnist for the Metropolitan Atlanta Arts & Cultural Coalition www.atlantaplanit.com and some of his recent columns (such as What to Say When You Hate the Play) have gotten critical acclaim, at least by members of his own family.

In order to support his love of writing plays, Mr. Kimmel has worked as a sports reporter, tennis pro and mediator. He once dreamed about playing at center court in Wimbledon, but would now be content to go there as a spectator. He is a graduate of Brown University, the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism and the Emory University School of Law.
