All Affiliates who meet the below listed guidelines are eligible; plays are selected by a committee of independent theatre professionals and the Managing Artistic Director.

WTP presents open-to-the-public roundtable workshops of new full-length plays still in development.

Three WTP Affiliates' scripts will be selected for development in two-phase roundtable workshops.  A roundtable reading is a cold reading of a script with the playwright, a dramaturg/director, professional actors and guests.  There is no rehearsal or staging; the focus is squarely on hearing the words and the story and working through the revealed problems.

Submission Guidelines:

  1. One full-length play (45 page minimum) per playwright.  Multiple submissions will not be accepted and will amount to the playwright being disqualified from the 2008 series.
  2. No more than six (6) characters unless doubling is a viable option.  Selections are made solely at WTP's discretion.
  3. Scripts must have been developed through WTP's First Draft On Demand reading series, unless the playwright has already demonstrated a level of professionalism that has led to a past full production by a professional theatre.
  4. Scripts that have previously been selected for WTP's Summer Reading Series and/or  WTP's former Work-In-Progress Reading Series are not eligible for the Playwrights Salon.
  5. No electronic submissions.
  6. Your playwright resume and cover letter should be submitted along with four (4) bound copies of the script to:
