Working Title Playwrights presents the 365 Project at Emory University's Schwartz Center Theater Lab.The executioner, his mob, Mrs. Lincoln, and others leap to life in new works by Pulitzer prize-winner Suzan-Lori Parks.
WHAT IS THE 365 FESTIVAL?
Suzan-Lori Parks, the first African American woman to win the Pulitzer prize, wrote a play every day for a year, which became a daily meditation on an artistic life. Over 600 theaters will present grassroots premieres of the 365 Days/365 Plays play cycle in Atlanta, Austin, Chicago, Colorado, Texas, L.A., Minnesota, New York, Northeast, San Francisco Bay Area, Seattle, Southeast, universities (365U), the Washington D.C. area, and the West. ABOUT THE PLAYWRIGHT
Suzan-Lori Parks is one of contemporary American theater's most innovative writers. Her plays include Topdog/Underdog (2002 Pulitzer Prize for Drama), In the Blood, Fucking A, Venus (Obie Award, Best American Play), The America Play, Imperceptible Mutabilities in the Third Kingdom (Obie Award) and Death of the Last Black Man in the Whole Entire World. They have been seen locally at Actor's Express, Alliance Theatre and Jomandi. Ms. Parks is also a screenwriter, novelist and recipient of the MacArthur Foundation "Genius" Grant.
